Edraak

BACKGROUND

Edraak, a massive open online course (MOOC) platform, is an initiative of the Queen Rania Foundation (QRF). QRF is determined to ensure that the Arab world is at the forefront of educational innovation. As such, QRF has capitalized on regional Arab talent to leverage technology developed by the Harvard-MIT consortium, edX, to create the first non-profit Arabic MOOC platform. The new MOOC platform will present the Arab world with unique and vital opportunities that can be part of a necessary revolution in education and learning. Launched in 2014 by Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan as an initiative of the Queen Rania Foundation, Edraak offers free Arabic Massive Open Online Courses [MOOCs] to Arabic-speaking learners worldwide.

Edraak works with academic and professional institutions and individuals worldwide to offer MOOCs in business, humanities, arts, self-development, citizenship, and innovation, as well as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The subjects we cover are chosen based on market needs and demands, and bridge a much-needed knowledge gap and a dearth of advanced, accessible resources in Arabic.

Edraak works with organizations and regional partners on MOOC and Platform development. Partners commonly seek to increase their visibility or use the created content as SPOCs in internal training. To date, Edraak has customized and developed platforms for clients that have used them either as channels for internal training or as publicly accessible, wide-scale e-learning platforms.
