OUR STORY
The Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development was founded by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah in 2013. With the belief in the power of education and that every child in Jordan and the Arab world deserves a quality education.
Today, half of all children in Jordan cannot read and understand a simple text at the age of ten. The World Bank and UNESCO have classified this as “learning poverty,” which jeopardizes a child’s long-term success in school, employment, and life.
At QRF, we recognize literacy as a foundational skill that unlocks lifelong learning and success. As reading is one crucial gateway skill, all children should be able to read with comprehension to develop more complex cognitive and socioemotional skills as they grow up. Therefore, QRF’s programs are all designed to support every child in becoming a fluent reader in Arabic and with comprehension by the time they reach middle school.
Our mission is to identify educational gaps, design solutions, and provide data and evidence for decision-making in and beyond the classroom.
Our programs take a rigorous evidence-based approach, leveraging behavior science, innovation, and partnerships to design, use and scale truly transformational solutions for every child to read fluently with comprehension.
We aim to transform education in Jordan and the region by working with parents and focusing on the early childhood development of emergent literacy skills, engaging teachers and addressing Arabic literacy teaching and learning in schools, and advocating for the use of evidence in making decisions in and beyond the classroom.
