We are thrilled to announce that the Queen Rania Foundation’s Iqrali.jo platform has been named a finalist for the prestigious WISE Prize for Education. This recognition highlights the transformative potential of Iqrali.jo, an innovative platform designed to support parents in nurturing their children’s Arabic literacy skills from an early age.
Addressing a Critical Need
At QRF, we have identified a significant gap in early childhood education in Jordan and the broader Arab world. Research shows that while nearly 90% of children under six spend most of their day with their mothers, fewer than 1% of parents read to their children daily. This lack of reading engagement and a scarcity of age-appropriate Arabic books have created a situation where many children are not developmentally on track in literacy.
To address this, QRF has launched successful educational programs, including Edraak.org, which now reaches over 9 million users across the Arab world, and the Karim and Jana mobile app series, downloaded over 2.5 million times. Additionally, our Parental Education Program (PEP) has reached 17,000 parents since 2017, building a robust regional community of over 500,000 parents.
What Makes Iqrali.jo Unique?
Iqrali.jo is a groundbreaking parental platform that aims to make a lasting impact on Arabic literacy. It provides evidence-based resources curated from across the MENA region, accessible for free to parents of all socio-economic backgrounds. The platform is part of a broader program that builds on behavioral science to encourage parental engagement in reading, tailored to meet diverse parenting needs. Iqrali.jo also plans to integrate interactive community features and chatbot technology to enhance user experience and accessibility.
Future Vision and Impact
With Iqrali.jo, QRF envisions a future where parents have access to the tools and knowledge they need to support their children’s literacy journey. The platform’s integration of AI-driven personalization and its potential for replication in other Arabic-speaking countries make it a scalable solution for advancing literacy across the region. By addressing foundational literacy, promoting the teaching of Arabic, and integrating AI in education, Iqrali.jo directly tackles several WISE Prize challenges.
We are honored to be a finalist for the WISE Prize for Education and remain committed to making Iqrali.jo a catalyst for meaningful, systemic change in early childhood literacy across Jordan and the Arab world.
